7 Shopify Apps That Improve Conversion Rates

Boost Your Store’s Conversion Rates Using These Shopify Apps

So, you’ve successfully gotten people to your store — but what are they doing once they get there? While driving traffic to your Shopify Store is a critical piece of the ecommerce puzzle, there isn’t much value if those guests aren’t converting.

If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’re dealing with this exact problem. Thankfully, there are quite a few solutions — seven of them, actually — out there to help you captivate your customers and capitalize on those potential sales.

Without further ado, let’s kick things off with Shopify app #1: Nudgify.

1. Nudgify

Nudgify is a popular app that uses psychological triggers (something we’ll get into later) to increase engagement and conversions.

Social proof, FOMO, urgency and friction, are triggers that elicit a response in the emotions and mind of your visitors, ultimately aiding them in their decision to purchase. Nudgify uses “nudges” to inform visitors of a purchase made by another visitor, show when inventory is running low on a hot product, display reviews, set a time limit on purchases, create a target for free delivery and more.

This app is a native integration, meaning you gain access to real-time statistics and social proof. In addition, it requires zero setup and maintenance — the installation is automatic!

Nudgify’s Pro Plan is the most popular option and only costs $29 a month. It includes 100,000 nudges, custom messages, access to all available styles and allows you to remove Nudgify branding.

2. Privy

The Shopify app Privy offers three main tools for ecommerce brands: Privy Convert, Privy Email and Privy Text. For the sake of this blog, we’re going to set our sights on Privy Convert.

Privy Convert allows you to create popups, flyouts, spin-to-wins, bars, landing pages, banners and embedded forms using templates that are proven to convert according to the platform. One of the best features, however, is that you get to choose who sees your popup, form or display. Privy Convert enables you to target customers based on URL, cart value, number of visits and more. In addition to this, Privy also gives your store access to cross-sell and exit intent campaigns, helping you to close more sales and increase your conversions

The pricing for Privy Convert is based on pageviews. For up to 5,000 pageviews, Privy Convert is free. But, if you want to take advantage of Privy’s additional features — such as coupon creation, the email delivery of those coupons and integrations with email platforms such as Klaviyo and MailChimp — you’ll want a plan that bundles Privy Convert with Privy Email. Fortunately, Privy already offers this as a “Starter Plan”, and pricing is dependent on the number of contacts in your email list.

3. Smile Rewards

Smile.io is centered around three primary elements of the customer experience: Loyalty, Rewards and Referrals. This popular Shopify app believes that “rewarding your customers with points is the best way to establish and maintain lasting, [and] emotional relationships” with your community. The use of points not only creates excitement for your current customers, but also for your potential ones.

Reward customers for creating an account, following and sharing you on social media, purchasing, their birthday… If you can dream it, Smile.io can reward them for it. Once your customer has accumulated a certain amount of points, they can be redeemed as a percentage discount, dollar discount, free product or free shipping. Smile.io takes this a step further by giving you additional tools to re-engage customers you’re missing, rename points to perfectly reflect your brand, limit how often customers can earn points and establish parameters for specific customer segments.

As far as pricing plans go, Smile.io offers five options for ecommerce businesses, ranging from $0/month to $1,000/month. Their most popular package is their Growth Package, which costs $199/month and includes their points program, referral program, program branding, rewards emails, nudges, points expiry, an analytics dashboard and two Smile integrations.

4. Growave

Unlike other apps, Growave’s platform is only for small and medium-sized Shopify stores. Using social proof in the format of reviews, rewards, wishlists and UGC (user-generated content), Growave works to increase conversions and sales, as well as build brand loyalty.

Not only does Growave reward your most loyal customers, but also assigns them a tier. You have the ability to set as many tier ranks as you’d like, as well as the criteria each customer must achieve to move from tier to tier. Tiers work to keep you customers engaged, encouraging them to keep coming back for more. Who doesn’t want to go for gold?

A unique feature of Growave is its use of UGC and photo sharing. While I’m sure you take excellent photos of your products, there’s no denying the power of UGC. To a prospective customer, seeing how someone like them uses your product is compelling, and Growave knows it. Rather than only letting this content live on your social platforms, Growave allows you to pull your Instagram and UGC into shoppable galleries across your site. Tag each product, customize your gallery and curate content to boost sales and drive conversions

Growave offers monthly and annual pricing plans, as well as the option to start free. Paying annually saves you 20 percent across all monthly plans. Their monthly plans range from $29.99/month to $299.99/month, and are priced according to your type of business — small, medium-sized, or enterprise.

5. Socialphotos

Speaking of the power of UGC and social photo sharing, meet Socialphotos. Socialphotos uses UGC as social proof to drive conversions by building trust and confidence with your customers. According to Socialphotos, this level of visual influence is powerful — with 54 percent of people purchasing a consumer packaged good after seeing UGC.

Using this app, you can curate and showcase UGC across your site in the form of page galleries, shoppable galleries and product galleries. It even includes conversion analytics to demonstrate how your galleries are performing.

For ecommerce sites with a highly visual brand and products, this app may be the most effective and cost-efficient option for you. With the Basic Plan costing only $15/month and their most Advanced Plan priced at $50/month, Socialphotos is a highly affordable solution for increasing conversion rates in your Shopify store.

6. OptinMonster

Known as the “#1 most powerful conversion optimization toolkit in the world”, OptinMonster’s Shopify app is centered around boosting conversions. Like others on this list, OptinMonster lets you create custom forms or choose from one of their pre-made templates. The app also focuses on data-driven optimization through the use of A/B testing on forms and popups.

A feature that OptinMonster does well is targeting and segmentation. Using their Behavior Automation feature, you can show personalized messages to visitors to further engage your customers and drive conversions. This is especially useful for exit popups and email popups — both of which are included in OptinMonster’s Growth Plan.

Their Growth Plan costs $49/month and comes with a 30-day free trial. Aside from Shopify, OptinMonster also integrates with MailChimp, Klaviyo, ConvertKit, HubSpot and Infusionsoft.

7. Yotpo

Used by world-renowned brands such as Patagonia, Steve Madden and Gymshark, Yotpo — formerly Swell — offers a comprehensive ecommerce platform for your Shopify store. Its features are divided into five main categories: Reviews and Ratings, Visual UGC, Customer Loyalty, Referral Programs and SMS Marketing.

Yotpo puts extra emphasis on UGC, calling on the power of social proof to drive engagement and increase conversions. Aside from photos, Yotpo allows you to collect multiple forms of UGC, from reviews to AI-powered Q&A.

If you’re interested in Yotpo, you can get started on their Free Plan which includes 50 monthly orders, review request emails, on-site widgets, basic customizations and content management and moderation. Yotpo’s Premium Plan, however, is designed to grow with your business, and offers many more conversion-centric features than the Free Plan. You must request a demo to get pricing information, though, as pricing is dependent on your business needs.

Why These Apps Influence Sales

Remember earlier when I mentioned psychological triggers and their influence on conversions? Let’s spend some time unpacking that.

There are seven proven triggers that are known to drive conversions:

  1. Reciprocity: Give something to get something, such as a free product with a purchase.
  2. Commitment and consistency: Remove the barrier of entry and customers are more likely to commit to a purchase. This could be in the form of free, at-home try ons or by giving your customers the ability to customize your products online.
  3. Social proof: Use reviews, testimonials and UGC to show that other people like your product, too.
  4. Authority: Utilize industry influencers or your own brand’s authority to prove you know what you’re doing — this is why strategic content marketing is so important.
  5. Liking: Get your customers to like you by showcasing your brand’s story. Why did you start your business in the first place? Promoting your why helps you win big with customers.
  6. Scarcity: Highlight products that are running low in stock and remind your customers to purchase before it’s gone. Nobody wants to have FOMO.
  7. Unity: Find what ties your brand to your customers and use it to your advantage. Your customers don’t just want to fund your business — they want to be a proud member of your community.

The reason that the above Shopify apps perform so well is because they harness the power of many, if not all, of these triggers. Remember, the goal isn’t to get into your customer’s wallet. You want to get into their minds and hearts first. This way, they continue to choose your brand again and again — and tell their friends about it, too!
